Recovery Reconnection Program
Help someone entering recovery reconnect with safe support.
Many people living unsheltered are also trying to break free from addiction. Will U Help works with recovery programs to help them reconnect with family members, loved ones, or support people who may help them stay off the streets and continue rebuilding their life.

One question can help someone leave the streets.
“Is there someone from your past we could help you reconnect with?”
If the answer is yes, Will U Help can help them reach out, search for that person, and support the first step toward reconnection when both sides are willing.
How it works
A simple reconnection flow for recovery teams
- 1
Ask the intake question
Ask if there is someone from their past we could help them reconnect with.
- 2
Record a short video message
Help them record a 30+ second video message speaking directly to the person they hope to reach.
- 3
Submit the Reconnect Form
Share the Reconnect Form link with the person, or help them fill it out. This gives Will U Help the information needed to begin the reconnection search.
- 4
We search and reach out
Will U Help attempts to locate the person and start the reconnection when both sides are willing.
Simple recovery staff instructions
Ask the intake question:
“Is there someone from your past we could help you reconnect with?”
If that does not feel natural in the moment, staff can also ask:
“Is there someone from your past we could help you reconnect with?”
If they are unsure, ask them to think about a relative, mentor, pastor, neighbor, counselor, service member, coach, sponsor, former employer, or anyone who once cared about them.
If they say yes, complete the Reconnect Form with them.
Record the required 30+ second video.
Have them speak directly to the person they hope to reach. Before recording, ask off camera: “What would you like to say to your connection?” Once recording starts, please keep your voice out of the video. Watch an example video here.
Ask them to check back in one week.
If Will U Help locates someone who wants to reconnect, we will reach out within 5 business days. If they do not hear back after 5 business days, they can assume we were not able to confirm a willing connection.
Important note
Will U Help cannot guarantee that we will locate the person, that the person will respond, or that reconnection will occur.
Please note
At this time, Will U Help is unable to research adoption-related reconnection requests.
Need a paper option?
Here is a printable form. Once completed, please upload it through our Contact page and be sure to upload the video or message there too.
Who this helps
Recovery reconnection support, three ways
For rehab centers
Use this with intake, case management, discharge planning, and family support conversations.
For people coming from the streets
A reconnection may create a safer next step when someone is trying to avoid returning to the street.
For willing family support
The short video message helps the loved one recognize the person and feel the sincerity of the request.
Help someone carry recovery into reconnection.
Add one question to your intake process. One answer may help someone leave the streets with support instead of going back alone.
